"Out of sight, out of mind"!
Few people actually know what is happening; - on, in and under the water.
It matters; seabed habitats are being dredged and bottom trawled, these commercial activities rip up vital habitats that are needed for fish nursery grounds and so much more. There are less damaging ways to fish, that would actually employ more fisher-folk and return higher prices: a win-win!
A diverse ecosystem creates robust habitats. With pressures from climate change, over-fishing, pollution and the current rates of biodiversity loss, we need robustness in our seas, for our future, for that of our kids and for future generations.
Please ask your MSP/MP, "What are you doing to protect Scottish seas"? Feel free to send replies to us, even copy us in SealScotand.
